Module 1

This first module is a brief overview of sentencing principles in Canada.

In this module we will identify and discuss the broad sentencing principles in the Canadian Legal System, of note a brief overview of the sentencing ideologies set out in Section 718 of the Canadian Criminal Code.

While much of the information may be a review for Indigenous Courtworkers  who have a lot of experiential learning and are significantly connected with the communities they serve, this is a dynamic area of the law and presents with many noteworthy recent changes.
